Caring for your Fuchsia Patio Tree

  • Fuchsia plants prefer bright, indirect light or morning sun with afternoon shade. Too much direct sun can scorch the leaves, while too little light may reduce blooming.

  • Keep the soil moist but not soggy. Water regularly, especially during hot weather. The soil should be damp but well-draining. Avoid letting the plant sit in standing water.

  • Fuchsias thrive in temperatures between 55–75°F (13–24°C). They don’t tolerate extreme heat well, so provide shade if temperatures rise. These plants also enjoy humid conditions.

  • Use a balanced liquid fertilizer every 2–4 weeks during the growing season (spring to early fall) to encourage abundant blooms. Reduce feeding in winter.

  • Regularly pinch back the growing tips to encourage a fuller shape. Remove spent flowers to promote continuous blooming.

  • Fuchsia plants are sensitive to cold. If grown in a pot, bring them indoors before the first frost and keep them in a cool, bright location.
